KPK Acknowledges Alleged Involvement of TNI Soldiers in BNPB Corruption Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it has sent a letter to TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto regarding alleged involvement of some TNI members in a corruption case tied to the National Disaster Management Agency’s (BNPB) ready-to-use disaster funds (DSP). That letter spells out how the case unfolded, including suspected conflicts of interest or bribery in the procurement of goods and services at BNPB.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said that TNI's Military Police (Puspom) are expected to follow up soon, given that KPK and TNI have been in close coordination from the get-go. Earlier, KPK named five suspects, one of which is Bima Setiawan, an Expert Staff to the BNPB Chief and also the younger brother of former BNPB head Suharyanto, who is an active TNI lieutenant general.
The other four suspects are Richard Erlangga, Gabriel Purwaka Sigit, Syifa Nrika Ghifarin, and Gery Prasetiawan. They are being held for an initial 20-day detention starting from October 14 to November 2, 2026, at the State Detention Center branch of the KPK's Red and White Building.
