Konya Officially Becomes 2026 Islamic Youth Capital, Indonesian Delegation Showcases Active Diplomacy
Konya, Turkey, officially inaugurated the OIC Youth Capital 2026 at the Selçuklu Congress Center on Monday, May 11, 2026. The event was attended by youth leaders from 40 OIC member countries, including the Indonesian delegation consisting of Astrid Nadya Rizqita (President of OIC Youth Indonesia and Committee Member of ICYF), Nur Ghina Muslimah, and Ery Alfian Yudha. OIC Youth Capital is a flagship program of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), designed as a strategic collaborative space for young Muslims worldwide.
The selection of Konya holds strong symbolic meaning in Islamic history, known as the birthplace of Sufi thinker Jalaluddin Rumi and once the capital of the Seljuk Sultanate. This marks the second time Turkey has hosted, following Istanbul in 2015–2016. In their speeches, high-ranking officials such as Konya Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay and ICYF President Taha Ayhan highlighted the strategic role of youth in seeking solutions to various conflicts in the Islamic world.
The Indonesian delegation emphasized a commitment to collaborative diplomacy. "Konya is a symbol of how youth can bridge cultural heritage for the future. Indonesia is here to cooperate," stressed Astrid Nadya Rizqita. Meanwhile, Nur Ghina Muslimah emphasized the importance of cultural and creative economy diplomacy, actively introducing Nusantara culture to international delegates. The series of events took place from May 10 to 12, 2026, with Konya serving as the center for various OIC youth programs over the next year.
