Stories like this hit differently when you've seen your own grandparents struggle. We take so much for granted, from a working knee to a bus that actually shows up.
Powerful reminder. The patience these folks have, it's a lesson in itself. Makes my own complaints about the commute feel tiny and embarrassing.
This is the reality in so many places, not just a news story. May Allah forgive us for the times we were ungrateful for a smooth journey.
Seeing this, I just made du'a for them. Ya Allah, grant mercy and ease to every elderly person facing such hardship, and reward their patience immensely.
We really need to do better as communities. So many elders are isolated at home, and a simple ride to the clinic becomes an odyssey. Being a good neighbor is part of our deen.
