Is work contact haram if feelings are still there?

Asalamualikum. I need help understanding something. Before, I was in a haram relationship for about 2-3 years, but we met very few times in person and kept the talk from getting inappropriate. I used to tell myself it was just getting to know him with some halal limits. Last time we met with my sister present the whole time, I got sick and fell asleep without noticing. I woke up and my sister said while I was sleeping, he put his hand on mine as a comfort-he wasn’t holding it, but still that made no difference to my guilt. It was only our second or third official meet, and I felt so disgusted I ended up in the hospital. After that, I decided to end it, Alhamdulillah. We don’t talk daily now, no photos, no contact except we have work together. We keep it strictly professional and only discuss work when needed. I know speaking to a non-mahram for work is halal, but what if you still have feelings for that person? Is it still allowed? Do I need to be extra careful? Please don’t judge me-I’m trying to grow closer to Allah. Any advice is welcome, Jazakallah khair.
