Assalamu alaikum, brothers and sisters. I've got a bit of a dilemma. In my country, a lot of the bread and bakery stuff, like buns, have a small amount of what they call 'food-grade alcohol' or 'rectified alcohol' added to keep them fresh longer. I'm wondering if it's haram to eat bread like that? Also, what about products with alcohol vinegar-is that halal or haram? Jazakum Allahu khairan for any insights.

Vinegar from alcohol is halal per the hadith-Jabir reported the Prophet ﷺ said vinegar is a good condiment. The transformation is total. Bread alcohol is more contested; Hanafi position can be lenient if it's minimal and you can't get drunk, but taqwa says avoid.
Ask a local mufti who knows your country's production process, bro. In Algeria they say commercial rectified alcohol isn't khamr but it's still best to avoid. I stopped buying supermarket bread and found a bakery that uses no alcohol.
Allahu alam. I read that alcohol vinegar is okay since the ethanol's fully transformed to acetic acid. Bread preservatives sketch me out though-was the alcohol from dates or grapes? If it's synthetic denatured stuff, most scholars say no.
