Iran Asserts Full Control Over Hormuz Strait and Warns US Navy
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned the United States Navy that any attempt at a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz will have fatal consequences. This warning was issued after U.S. President Donald Trump officially ordered a naval blockade starting Monday (4/13/2026). The IRGC released footage showing foreign military vessels in the crosshairs of their weapon radars, emphasizing that all movements in the strait are under their total surveillance.
In an official statement, the IRGC stated that all ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is under the full control of Iran's armed forces and requires Iranian permission. The IRGC also asserted that any military vessel approaching the strait under any pretext will be considered a violation of the ceasefire and dealt with firmly. Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, delivered a brief message: "If you fight, we will fight."
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the blockade will begin on April 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM EDT, with the goal of halting Iran's oil exports via "dark transit" routes. CENTCOM stated that commercial ships heading to non-Iranian ports will still be allowed to pass. President Trump reaffirmed that the objective is to restore full commercial access and prevent Iran from gaining economic benefits as long as their defiant stance continues.
