Intention for Friday Prayer for Congregants and Imam, Valid Conditions, and Recommended Acts
Friday prayer is an obligation for Muslim men who meet the requirements. Before performing it, it's important to pay attention to the intention. The intention is uttered in the heart and distinguishes between acts of worship.
For congregants, the wording of the intention is: اُصَلِّيْ فَرْضَ الجُمْعَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مُسْتَقْبِلَ اْلقِبْلَةِ اَدَاءً مَاْمُوْمًا لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى (Ushollii fardhol jum'ati rak'ataini mustaqbilal qiblati adaa-an ma-muuman lillaahi ta'aala), which means: “I intend to pray the Friday prayer of two rak'ahs, facing the qibla, as a congregant, for the sake of Allah the Exalted.”
The valid conditions for Friday prayer include: it must be performed in a settlement, within the time of Zuhr, in congregation with at least 40 men who are legally responsible and permanent residents, it must not precede or coincide with another Friday prayer in the same area, and it must be preceded by two sermons. Recommended acts before Friday prayer include bathing, trimming nails and mustache, wearing clean white clothes and perfume, reciting the prayer when leaving the house, and hurrying to the mosque calmly.
