Inspector General Slamet Uliandi Named as Suspect in Alleged Illegal Wiretapping Case Against President Prabowo
The Indonesian National Police have named former Head of the Police ICT Division, Inspector General Slamet Uliandi, as a suspect in the case of alleged illegal wiretapping against President Prabowo Subianto. This decision came after a case review that concluded Slamet met the elements of unlawful conduct.
Brigadier General Suhermanto, Director of Cyber Crime at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit, stated that Slamet was previously a witness. He served as a mentor for the MC Criminal Investigation Unit and was the Head of Monitoring for the unit from 2010 to 2019.
With this naming, the total number of suspects has grown to four generals. Previously, former National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Police Legal Division Head Inspector General Ahrie Sonta, and Inspector General Eko Hadi Santoso had already been named as suspects.
This case relates to the alleged tapping of phone numbers belonging to state officials, political figures, media, community organizations, and businesspeople. Investigators are still probing the possible involvement of the parties in illegal wiretapping, deletion of electronic data, and illegal access.
