How can I return to Allah in a normal, steady way?
Assalamu alaikum. So, I was born into a Muslim family but didn’t really learn much about Islam. I’m from an Arab background, but living abroad made English my main language. I’m 19 now and still struggle with Arabic, especially Quranic Arabic. I used to pray all five prayers regularly, but then one day I just stopped. I think it was because I lost faith in my deen for a bit. I’d never call myself atheist or believe in any other religion-Islam feels true to me, that’s just my belief. But I deal with a lot of anxiety and overthinking, so my mind gets clouded. At some point, I started doubting if everything is really true because I didn’t have solid proof, and that’s when I stopped praying. I’ve tried to learn more about Islam so many times, but it never works out. Reading the Quran in English is still a bit hard to understand. When I look things up, there are so many debates and misconceptions that I get scared of doing something wrong. And of course, there’s this huge fear of the Last Day and the Day of Judgment. Learning about those events messed with my mental health. I got stuck in a constant state of panic, serving Allah only out of fear-and honestly, that’s still how I feel as I write this. We just had an earthquake in my country, and it felt like a wake-up call. I prayed Fajr after that. Sometimes I manage two or three prayers, but staying consistent with all five is still a struggle. If anyone has advice on how to calm my soul from all these thoughts or how to get back to praying regularly, I’d truly appreciate it. I want to be part of this religion because I love it and believe in it 1000%, not just because I’m scared of the Hereafter.
