Gus Kautsar’s Wife and TGB Deny Involvement in Writing the Book “Islam Ala Prabowo”
BANDA ACEH – The dustup over the book Islam Ala Prabowo: Cara Prabowo Subianto Mengamalkan Ajaran Islam is blowing up again on social media. The wife of KH Muhammad Abdurrahman Al-Kautsar (Gus Kautsar), who runs the Al-Falah Ploso Islamic boarding school in Kediri, Ning Jazilah Annahdliyah or Ning Jazil, shot down claims that her husband was one of the book’s writers. She said Gus Kautsar’s name was slapped on there without permission.
A similar clarification came from Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB) Muhammad Zainul Majdi. The religious figure and former West Nusa Tenggara governor said his name got used in the book even though he never sent in any writing. Both statements spread far and wide on Sunday (9/6/2026), after the book title went viral again and stirred up arguments.
The book, roughly 346 pages thick, was launched on August 26, 2025 during a National Coordination Meeting of Baznas in Jakarta. The launch was handled by MUI Chairman KH Anwar Iskandar together with Baznas Chairman Prof. Dr. KH Noor Achmad. The writing was kickstarted by MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani and the MUI Chairman, with lead writers Abdur Rahim Hasan, Rikal Dikri, and Mush’ab Muqoddas.
A few figures weighed in on the controversy. Gus Maftuh, Chairman of the Forum Komunikasi Kyai Kampung Indonesia, asked people to read the book all the way through and not just stare at the title. In his view, the book doesn’t aim to cook up some new Islam - it just paints how Islamic values show up in leadership.
