Gus Ipul Threatens Branch Officials Who Report Alleged NU Congress Corruption to the KPK
PBNU Deputy Chairman Syaifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) has threatened to take NU branch officials to court if their report of alleged corruption in the financing of the NU Congress to the KPK turns out to be unproven. The statement was made at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/21/2026).
Gus Ipul said he supports the KPK’s law enforcement efforts to investigate the report. He also noted that some parties have returned money suspected of being proceeds from corruption.
The controversy erupted after NU grassroots figure Gus Lilur revealed allegations of a fund transfer of around Rp480 billion from Jakarta to Jombang using two Toyota Land Cruisers transported by tow trucks. The KPK has yet to confirm this claim.
