Golkar: MK’s Ruling on Gibran is a Hard Hit
Golkar deputy chair Ahmad Doli Kurnia said the Constitutional Court’s decision on the lawsuit challenging vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s education requirements in the 2024 presidential election should be a moment for introspection among state officials. He reckons the ruling isn’t just a lesson, but also a blow and a warning so future elections are run better according to the law.
Doli stressed that his side still respects the court’s decision and appreciates the institution for being able to tell the difference between judicial authority and political turf. He said this case serves as a reminder that every political process must be grounded in the constitution, rule compliance, integrity, and responsibility for the nation’s sake.
He’s pushing for the court’s ruling to be key input for refining the upcoming election law, especially clarifying the requirements, recruitment, and selection of leaders and representatives. Doli hopes the improved regulations can produce a more detailed and transparent candidate mechanism at both the national and regional levels.
