Free Eye Camp at Ploso Regional Hospital Jombang: 116 Cataract Patients Get Free Surgery
A total of 116 patients got free cataract surgery during a social service event held by Ploso Regional Hospital together with the Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association (PERDAMI) and Asia Muslim Charity Foundation (AMCF) on Saturday (24/10). Out of that number, 104 patients were residents of Jombang Regency, while the other 12 came from Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Nganjuk, and Blitar.
One of the patients, Parman (a resident of Tembelang District, Jombang), said he felt grateful after two years of vision problems, he could finally get medical treatment at no cost. "I'm so happy. It's been two years of suffering, now I can finally get the surgery for free. Thank you, Abah Bupati," he said.
Jombang Regent Warsubi appreciated this collaboration and stressed that vision problems caused by cataracts can really limit someone's activities. He hopes this free surgery helps patients become productive again and encourages similar events to keep being held, especially for people with financial limitations. The patients are advised to go for follow-up check-ups and follow the medical staff's instructions during the recovery period.
