Fire in Petemon Timur Surabaya, One Child Dies, Sibling Survives by Jumping from Second Floor
A two-story house on Jalan Petemon Timur, Sawahan, Surabaya, caught fire on Monday (6/22) at 2:17 PM WIB. Flames engulfed the second floor and firefighters arrived at the scene at 2:22 PM WIB. The victims were Aldery Ahmad Susetyo (11) and Kyaranissa Kamila Susetyo (4). Aldery survived after breaking a window and jumping, but suffered abrasions and shock. His younger sister died at the scene.
The head of the Fire Suppression Division of DPKP Surabaya, M. Rokhim, stated that narrow access to the location (alley width 1.5 meters) made firefighting difficult. Fire trucks parked 50 meters from the fire spot. The fire was contained by 2:35 PM WIB, with cooling operations until 4:15 PM WIB. Eleven fire trucks and 5 rescue units were deployed, assisted by BPBD, police, Puskesmas, and Satpol PP. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
