Facing Challenges as a Muslim in a Non-Muslim Nation
Subhanallah, today it really hit me how tough it can be. I'm living in the Philippines, which isn't a Muslim country, though we have a strong Muslim community in the south. Islam has deep roots here, predating even the Spanish arrival, and alhamdulillah, our ancestors held onto their faith through various invasions. However, since the islands united to form the nation, it's been a constant struggle. Even with separate laws for Muslims from the government, there are still limits... I was thinking about wearing the niqab and asked my mom, but she worried about difficulties in college and work, and possible discrimination. That really hurt-living here hadn't bothered me much before because we had our own community and city (though it's underdeveloped due to corruption), but a true Muslim country still feels superior. Subhanallah, I dream of migrating with my family to a Muslim land, but finances make it seem impossible. Yet, with Allah's will, nothing is impossible, so I ask my dear brothers and sisters to make dua for our migration and financial stability. I'd also love advice from my sisters about the niqab. May Allah bless you for reading! Shukran.
