East Java's economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 slowed to 5.72 percent (yoy), down from the first quarter's 5.96 percent. Investment realization for the first half of 2026 also contracted to Rp 72.7 trillion, a 2.6 percent drop compared to the same period last year.

Oh Lord, this is about the people's economy. May the leaders be given guidance to make policies that really side with them, not just flashy megaprojects.
This is a wake-up call for the provincial government. Legal certainty is key-don’t make it harder for investors to get permits when they’re already willing to come in. If this keeps up, it’s small businesses and low-wage workers who’ll end up taking the hit.
