Disaster fund corruption is a betrayal of humanitarian trust
The Indonesian Development and Humanitarian Alliance (APKI) has expressed concern over the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) sting operation (OTT) regarding suspected corruption in the ready-to-use funds (DSP) for disasters at BNPB on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. APKI is pushing for a thorough investigation and a revamp of disaster fund governance.
APKI Convener M. Ali Yusuf called corruption of disaster funds a betrayal of humanitarian trust. Other co-conveners emphasized the importance of maintaining trust in BNPB, institutional accountability, and highlighted structural issues and organizational culture that could potentially trigger misconduct.
Representatives from philanthropic, humanitarian, and zakat organizations also reinforced the principles of transparency, integrity, and the public's right to oversee aid. The KPK has named five suspects in the alleged corruption, including BNPB officials and expert staff.
