Complete Sequence and Proper Procedure for Istighosah for Muslims
Istighosah is a practice commonly performed by Muslims when facing difficulties or seeking help from Allah SWT. This practice generally includes a series of remembrance, istighfar, salawat, and prayers that are recited earnestly with hope and humility. The recitation for istighosah is mentioned in the Qur'an, and one of them is in Surah Al-Anfal verse 9.
Before beginning the recitation of istighosah, it is recommended to perform the sunnah prayer of hajat two rak'ahs, as narrated in the hadith of at-Tirmidzi. The complete sequence of istighosah recitation includes reading Surah Al-Fatihah, istighfar, remembrance of remembrance and salawat upon the Prophet, and prayers from the story of Prophet Yunus, as well as calls to Asma'ul Husna such as Ya Qahhar, Ya Sami', Ya Basir, and others, followed by concluding remembrance such as Hasbunallah.
After completing the entire series and practice, it is usually concluded by reciting a closing prayer. Istighosah can be performed communally in mosques and majelis taklim, or individually at home as a form of spiritual effort in seeking assistance and a way out from Allah SWT.
