Celebrating Eid al-Adha, Inmates at Banyuwangi Prison Grill Satay Together Inside Their Blocks
Inmates at the Class IIA Banyuwangi Prison marked Eid al-Adha 1447 H by holding a satay grilling session inside their housing blocks on Wednesday (27/5). This activity took place after the slaughtering of 12 sacrificial animals, consisting of 3 cows and 9 goats.
The sacrificial meat was distributed in the form of skewered, ready-to-grill satay to each block. Banyuwangi Prison Warden, Solichin, said they wanted to create a sense of togetherness so that inmates could still feel the Eid al-Adha moment just like being among family.
The sacrificial animals came from donations by prison staff, partner agencies, contractors, and inmates' families. Some of the meat was also prepared for a special lunch menu and distributed to the community around the prison.
Solichin hopes this momentum serves as a means of spiritual development, encouraging inmates to be more grateful and motivated to undergo their rehabilitation properly.
