Can I Still Make Dua in My Situation?

Assalamu alaikum, everyone. I used to be a tarot reader, casually predicting futures without thinking much about it. But as I've been learning more about Islam, I feel really embarrassed about my past. I tried to uncover things that only Allah knows, using some cards, and on top of that, I even accepted money from people for it. I haven't said my Shahada yet, but in my heart I truly believe in Allah and I want to make Dua asking for forgiveness. The thing is, I don't have any Surahs memorized yet. Is it okay for me to still make Dua while I'm in this state?
