Bulog Absorbs 3.5 Million Tons of Rice, Food Self-Sufficiency Getting Closer
Perum Bulog has snapped up the harvest of local farmers, totaling 3.5 million tons of rice as of July 24, 2026. That's about 87 percent of this year's national procurement target of 4 million tons, beefing up the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) and supporting the sustainable food self-sufficiency target by 2026.
Bulog's CEO, Retired Army Lieutenant General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, gave a shout-out to everyone involved-farmers, field agricultural extension workers (PPL), Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, Bulog's partners, and local and central governments. He said, "Alhamdulillah, this achievement is the result of hard work from all parties. The solid collaboration is a strong foundation for realizing sustainable food self-sufficiency."
Bulog is optimistic the 4 million ton target will be met soon. Rizal stressed that this milestone not only strengthens the government's rice stock but also shows our national food independence. "We believe that with everyone's support, the dream of food self-sufficiency will grow stronger and can be achieved optimally by the end of September 2026," he added.
Once the target is hit, Bulog will keep buying up farmers' grain and rice to keep prices stable at the farm level and boost national food reserves. Bulog will also keep tightening coordination so that harvest absorption across regions runs smoothly for Indonesia's food stability and independence.
