Banyuwangi Holds 2026 Livestock Contest and Market Ahead of Eid al-Adha
The Banyuwangi Regency Government held the 2026 Livestock Contest, Exhibition, and Market over two days on June 5-6, 2026 in Kedungasri Village, Tegaldlimo District. The event featured around 120 top livestock animals, including simmental, limousin, and Belgian Blue cattle, as well as goats, rabbits, and chickens. These animals weren't just judged on weight and quality, they also strutted their stuff in unique costumes like crowns and local cultural accessories.
One of the attention-grabbers was the contingent from Tegalsari District, which brought a simmental steer weighing over a ton and a prospective qurban animal over 700 kilograms from Enzo Farm owned by breeder M. Adam. Both animals won in different categories: Max Mojo, weighing 1,136 kilograms, took the 'extreme' category, while Angkas Timur won in the 'prospective qurban animal' category. Adam expressed pride over this achievement and mentioned that his cattle are starting to get significant interest from the market, especially leading up to Eid al-Adha, with offers reaching up to Rp 180 million.
Banyuwangi Vice Regent Mujiono emphasized that the event isn't just a contest, but also serves as a way to promote the livestock sector in the region and as a means for breeders to exchange experiences. This parade is expected to help people get healthy, quality sacrificial animals for the 2026 Eid al-Adha, while also boosting the competitiveness of local breeders.
