Amir Hamzah: The Raid on Sukoharjo Girls' Islamic Boarding School Is No Ordinary Matter
Intelligence and geopolitics analyst Amir Hamzah is asking National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto to give an open explanation about what's suspected to be a repressive raid on the Hamalatul Qur’an Girls' Islamic Boarding School in Mojolaban, Sukoharjo, Central Java. He stressed that any personnel found guilty of violence, intimidation, or procedural violations should be dealt with firmly.
Amir reckons this isn't just some regular case-it touches on protecting women, children, and the dignity of a pesantren educational institution. The police chief is being asked to clarify the facts of what happened, the procedures behind the raid, who gave the orders, and whether what went down on the ground matched legal guidelines.
The raid, which happened in the early hours of October 29, 2026, was part of a follow-up investigation into a case of a shop being torched. The pesantren side claims there were doors broken down, yelling, intimidation, and inappropriate treatment of the female students. The accounts from the pesantren and the police don’t match up, so an objective investigation based on evidence, documents, recordings, and witnesses is needed.
Amir reminded that the police force's authority has to come with responsibility and oversight according to the National Police Chief Regulation No. 1 of 2009 and the latest Police Law. He pushed for transparency with proof and examination results, so that the institution is seen as protecting people, not making them feel threatened.

Key point here: the pesantren and the police have conflicting versions of what happened. That means an independent investigation is absolutely necessary. The National Police Chief can't just rely on internal reports - there has to be an external audit so nobody feels wronged.
