Accelerating Waqf Certification in Aceh Through Cross-Institutional Collaboration
Banda Aceh – Collaboration between the Aceh High Prosecutor's Office, the Aceh National Land Agency (BPN), and the Aceh Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs has been enhanced to accelerate the certification of waqf land in the region. To date, 14,239 plots out of a total of 18,520 waqf lands have been certified, but there are still 4,281 plots without legal certainty. For 2026, the target is to add certification for 304 plots.
Although progress is being shown, the certification trend has experienced a significant decline, from 1,282 certificates in 2024 to only 224 in 2025. This decline is suspected to be due to reduced intensity of public outreach. The Head of the Aceh Prosecutor's Office, Yudi Triadi, emphasized certification as the key to protecting waqf land from potential legal claims, while the Head of the Aceh Regional BPN Office, Dr. Arinaldi, referred to this cooperation as a form of dedication in safeguarding the community's trust for future generations.
The Head of the Aceh Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs explained a change in approach through a 'door-to-door' strategy, where they actively visit nazirs (waqf managers) to speed up the administrative process. With strong legal certainty, this integrated step is expected not only to protect waqf assets from disputes but also to encourage productive utilization for the welfare of the community and future generations.
