Abah Setu Swarmed by Crowd, Claims He's Victim of AI Editing Over Alleged Insult to Prophet Muhammad
Polda Metro Jaya stepped in to handle a mob rushing the Nurul Hikam Dhikr Assembly led by Asep Setiawan, aka Abah Setu. The crowd showed up at the location in West Cikarang on the evening of September 7, 2026, demanding clarification over a video deemed insulting to Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Polda Metro Jaya’s PR head, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said Abah Setu was questioned on September 8, 2026. He claimed the video was a snippet suspected of being altered using artificial intelligence (AI).
A mediation is set for September 10, 2026, at the Bekasi Metro Police. Residents are urged to stay calm and not take matters into their own hands, and to report any alleged criminal acts through official channels. The crowd dispersed safely early Tuesday morning.
