A Thought on Seeking Divine Guidance Over Worldly Desires
Salam everyone, I wanted to share a reflection that's been on my mind, not to criticize but to encourage us all to think deeply. Lately, I've noticed some folks trying to justify questionable actions by claiming 'it's not explicitly mentioned as haram, so it's fine.' Honestly, it's concerning. We should be careful around people who constantly push boundaries, making everything seem halal without limits. Our compass should always be the Quran and the Sunnah for clear rulings. Here’s a bit of an explanation: When we're constantly chasing after temporary pleasures-like those dopamine hits from our habits or lifestyles-it can weaken our self-control. Shaitan often uses this to trick us into justifying our mistakes. It becomes harder to avoid sin unless we strengthen our willpower and stay busy with deeds that bring us closer to Allah. Some are so caught up in today's distractions, whether from social media or other influences, that their minds are always craving more. This puts them in a constant state of trying to rationalize haram things, maybe by saying 'there's no specific hadith against it.' But let's use our common sense: many modern things-like clubs, concerts, or temporary relationships-didn't exist at the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), so they won't have direct evidence. If Allah had listed every single possible haram thing, the record would be endless! Instead, we should rely on Islamic principles to guide us toward what pleases Him. May Allah protect us from misguidance and keep us steadfast. Ameen.
