A Searching Soul: From Christian Doubt to a Calling I Can't Ignore
Salaam dear brothers and sisters, I guess you could say I’m still a Christian, but honestly, I don’t know for how much longer. I became Roman Catholic a few years back, but it filled me with so much anxiety and guilt-like constant, never-ending worry. The pressure to confess things drove me into an actual OCD diagnosis. I left that church after three years, just to escape the mental strain. Then I spent a whole year hopping around: Orthodox, Anglican, Baptist, even Coptic. The peace everyone talks about? Barely showed up-maybe a flash here and there, but never stayed. Mostly it’s been this exhausting, painful confusion. The whole split-up mess inside Christianity has got me seriously doubting if it’s the truth anymore. Lately, it feels like Islam is pulling me. I can’t shake it. I keep arguing with myself, trying to hold on to Christianity, telling myself it’s not true... but my heart’s not convinced. I’m even nervous to open the Qur’an because what if it is the truth? And using Allah’s name scares me too-like maybe that really is His proper name, and I’ve been missing it all along. To make things more layered, I have a wife and a little daughter. My wife doesn’t want to become Muslim herself, but she’s willing to visit a mosque with me, alhamdulillah for that kindness. I’m just lost and looking for advice. Should I walk this path? I’m honestly really scared.
