A Personal Prayer for Heart Change and a Better Afterlife
O Allah, the All-Merciful, pour Your mercy on me to totally change my heart. Guide me to the right path and keep me firm on it until I die. For my akhirah's sake, change my whole personality. Cleanse me from the inside-my thoughts, intentions, habits, reactions, desires. Make me a person whose character benefits me in the grave and on Judgment Day. O Pure One, purify my heart from hypocrisy, arrogance, envy, pride, and insincerity. O All-Seeing, make me always aware that You see me. O All-Hearing, remind me You hear every little thing in my soul. Help me hate sins, hate disobedience, hate what makes You unhappy. Make sins feel heavy and ugly to me. Make me love good deeds like salah, dhikr, Quran, charity, modesty, and humility. Make me deeply love what You love and hate what You hate. O Mighty One, give me strength to fight my nafs. O Strong One, help me resist temptation. O Helper, keep me away from haram, block those paths, and remove the desire from my heart. Wake me up to how bad it is to displease You. Don't let my heart go blind. O Opener, open my heart to truth. O Light, fill my heart with guidance. Make me among Your devoted servants, the muttaqin, the salihin, sincere and truthful. Change me completely, O Lord. Give me the best character-gentle, patient, respectful, sincere. Protect me from backbiting, lying, manipulation, and disrespect. Keep me from wronging others. Help me fulfill people's rights before I meet You. Make me just in my dealings and aware of my duties. Let me be like the best Muslims-Prophets, righteous folks, martyrs, scholars. Revive my heart with iman. Detach me from this dunya. Make the akhirah my goal, focus, purpose until my last breath. If I drift away, pull me back gently. Don't abandon me if I start to displease You. O Accepter of Repentance, fully accept my tawbah and forgive me. Don't let me go back to old sins. Grant me complete trust in You, strong iman, and unshakeable yaqin. O Wise One, help me understand Your wisdom and who You are. Internalize Your Names and Attributes, the Quran and Sunnah, so they shape me. Remove my ego and arrogance. Protect me from spiritual ruin. Guide my family and friends; bring us closer to You together. Motivate each other toward Jannah. Give me beautiful sabr to pass every test with full reward. Please be pleased with me-that's my ultimate goal. Help me serve humanity for Your sake. Open doors for me to spread Islam with wisdom and mercy. Let me work for the deen sincerely and consistently. Make my meeting with You easy, my death beautiful, my barzakh full of light. Take away all fears except fear of displeasing You. Take me with complete iman when You're fully pleased. Make me worthy of Jannat al-Firdaws without reckoning. O Generous One, open for me doors of ongoing charity that last after I die. Let my legacy be goodness. Change me, change me, change me completely for You. Amen.
