A gentle reminder to my fellow Muslim brothers: let’s uplift our sisters
Assalamu alaikum everyone, hope you’re all in good health and high spirits. To my brothers reading this, it might sound like I’m trying to be a “pick me” but that’s not the case. You’re free to share your thoughts, I just feel it’s necessary to speak on something I’ve noticed. From my time online and real-life stories I’ve heard from sisters, we honestly need to step up when it comes to treating our Muslim women right. They shouldn’t have to feel scared or disgusted by us, nor feel forced to look at non-Muslim men for kindness and respect. Of course this doesn’t apply to every single Muslim guy, far from it. But those who do mistreat or belittle Muslim women, shame on you truly. And honestly, that goes for how we treat all women, but especially our mothers, sisters, and wives in faith. As men, you can’t be engaging in haram relationships during your younger years, messing around and having your “fun,” and then later expect to marry a pure-hearted hijabi who’s modest and nurturing. If you have sisters, ask yourself: would you be okay with a man who lived a wild haram lifestyle coming to ask for your pious sister in marriage? Let’s be real and honest about that. Also, it’s time we stop treating Muslim women like the problem. The hijabis and niqabis out there are literally on the frontlines in this era of Islamophobia. They get attacked, yelled at, spat on, their hijabs yanked off-they carry a heavy burden. They deserve our full respect and admiration because they walk around with targets on their backs. The actual crisis in the ummah is the corrupt leadership in many so-called Muslim countries, just look at the suffering in Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen. These are the true issues, and we need to unite and support our global Muslim family. I know I’m rambling, but just a bit more. As men, we have to be the best version of ourselves. Not just to become good husbands, but for our own souls. Seek knowledge, gain wisdom, stay strong, speak kindly, carry yourself with good character. Stick to halal and avoid the haram, and insha’Allah Allah will bless you with a righteous spouse. Again, I’m not attacking all Muslim men-just calling out the ones who think they can sneak around doing wrong and still get the best outcomes later. To the good brothers out there, I salute you 🫡. And yes, there are Muslim women who also fall into similar wrongs, but I’m speaking as a man about how we as men should behave and fix ourselves. May Allah bless you all, and have a wonderful rest of your day or night.
