A Brazilian sister’s journey to learn about Islam

Assalamu alaikum everyone! 💛 I wasn’t sure how to start this, but honestly, I just have so much respect and love for Islam and the Arab world. I’ve seen some posts talking about the islamophobic comments people get online, so I thought, why not share something good and maybe learn from you all while I’m at it. My name is Lúrian, I’m from Brazil-here, Christianity is everywhere, you know? But my mom raised me with values that feel really close to Islam: I never drank, never smoked, I avoid crazy parties, and I’m keeping myself for marriage (which is almost unheard of here!). I even went to a halal Lebanese place in São Paulo recently, and I fell in love with the food, seriously. Some of my friends are Muslims, but I’d love to hear from you all too. Just wanted to remind you that even with all the hate floating around, there’s people like me who really respect and appreciate your deen and culture. If you got a minute, I’d love to ask a few things: I don’t know Arabic and it’s hard to find classes here-is it okay to read the Quran and Hadith in Portuguese translation? What’s something you absolutely love about Islam? I’d love to know what inspires you so I can dig deeper into that. I heard there’s four main schools of fiqh. Do I have to choose one, or can I learn from all four? I grew up thinking the more knowledge and angles you look at, the closer you get to the truth. What would you suggest for someone starting from zero to learn about Islam and the Arab world? Like, books, channels, basics-anything.
