4 Latest Facts on the Hanania Travel Case: Plus Hajj Pilgrims Revealed to Have Been Charged More Than BPKH Rules
The case of alleged fraud and embezzlement of pilgrims' funds by Hanania Travel keeps growing. On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, 620 people collectively reported to the Metro Jaya Police, bringing the total victims to 1,286 people with losses of Rp35.3 billion.
Victims' attorney, Joddy Mulyasetya Putra, revealed that there were victims among the plus hajj pilgrims. Four people registered for plus hajj and were asked to pay 5,000 US dollars, higher than the BPKH rule of 4,000 US dollars. The money hasn't been deposited to BPKH yet, so they didn't get a queue number and can't transfer to another travel agency.
