Max Verstappen grabbed his first pole position of the 2026 season after being fastest in qualifying for the Bahrain GP at Sepang, Malaysia, on Saturday (3/10). The Red Bull driver clocked a time of 1 minute 35.130 seconds in Q3, good enough to start at the front for Sunday's race (4/10).
Lewis Hamilton from Ferrari took second place with a gap of 0.298 seconds, marking his return to the front row since his win at the Spanish GP. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, ended up fifth in qualifying with a 0.536-second gap.
Isack Hadjar actually finished third, but a five-place grid penalty drops him to start from eighth. So Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes moves up to the third spot on the grid after a lap time of 1:35.631. The qualifying session also saw Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto make his first Q3 appearance since the Italian GP, wrapping up the session in 10th.
