12 Recommendations from the 2026 Indonesian Muslim Congress Push for Danantara Sharia and LGBTQ Law
The VIII Indonesian Muslim Congress (KUII) in Jakarta, 24–27 July 2026, came up with 12 strategic recommendations as a blueprint for national development towards Golden Indonesia 2045. The recommendations cover the economy, education, technology, and foreign policy based on Islamic values and the constitution.
In the economic field, KUII pushes for the reactualization of Pancasila Economics and Sharia Economics, including the establishment of Danantara Sharia as a sharia investment hub. The government is urged to strengthen cooperatives, MSMEs, Islamic boarding schools, and ensure investment policies accommodate sharia principles and limit oligarchy.
In education, the congress wants faith, piety, and morals to be the soul of the national education system, harmonization of the Education System Bill in line with Article 31 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution, as well as strengthening Islamic boarding schools and Islamic higher education. KUII also highlights ethical-based AI governance and urges the acceleration of discussions on the Law on Prevention and Countermeasures of Deviant Sexual Behavior (LGBTQ) with support for Presidential Regulation 111/2025.
Other recommendations emphasize strengthening Indonesia's role in fighting for Palestinian independence, through recalibration of free and active foreign policy and leadership in the OIC and Global South. MUI Chairman for Information, Communication, and Digital Affairs KH Masduki Baidlowi stated that defending Palestine is a universal humanitarian call and an implementation of the constitution and consistency of Indonesia's foreign policy.
